Holland, MI —The movie “RISE” about the 1961 U.S. World Figure Skating Association Team that died in a plane crash on its way to Europe debuts Thursday across the country, including here in Holland.
Actors Patricia Clarkson and Dakota Fanning lend their voices to the production. Decorated American figure skaters such as Michelle Kwan and Scott Hamilton also make appearances.
Holland 7 will show the film at 8 p.m. Tuesday — coinciding with Tuesday’s 50th anniversary of the tragedy that devastated the sport.
Proceeds will benefit the U.S. Figure Skating Association’s Memorial Fund, which was created after the plane crash.
The Sentinel recently chatted with the directors and producers of “RISE”, twin sisters Lisa Lax and Nancy Stern Winters of 16-time Emmy-winning Lookalike Productions.
